I just watched the 1954 All Star game, and the amount basketball had progressed between then and this game in 1966 is insane. This game looks like basketball. What they were doing in the 50s is almost unrecognizable.

Wests mid range was wildly ahead of his time and that russell dunk was crazy

This is SO interesting to watch: middle range shots, hooks... Most of all basketball moves are organic, natural... Fantastic! i think that you guys agree with me.
Plus, quality of this video is amazing.
Thank YOU, NBA ! =)

What GREAT footage!! For everyone who assumes that NBA players weren't athletic in the 60s and couldn't play today...I mean....JUST WATCH THIS! Look at the shooting!! Look at how quick Russell gets off the floor; watch Russ drive and slam dunk for the last basket- this is great play in any era.

Jerry West 36/10/3 and Bill Russell 25/36/1 had the best games. LA took more free throws but missed 11. LA had a slightly better shooting percentage but the Celtics had 16 more rebounds and took more shots, thanks to Russell.

I feel like the only thing that stands out extremely is the ball handling, besides that it looks like a lot of modern day Spurs and Warriors. Great video!

Red lighting up the cigar after the Bill Russell dunk gives me goosebumps ngl. Doing it with the score that close, definition of playing the mental game and winning.

Bill Russell is a freak of nature. He's athletic, runs like a deer, agile, quick and fast. He literally can Guard smaller players. No centers move like that in today's NBA.

1. they really sucked at crowd control back in the day...2. Russell elevates so easily and quickly; absolute elite athletic skills that transcends any era of basketball
