I've whitled down the playlist many times, but this song has never left it.

I was one of the people who loved this song in 1989 before it hit real popularity on the soundtrack of the David Lynch film Wild at Heart.

The backup singers were singing "The world is only going to break your heart." I can relate to this song because I had my share of unrequited love.

Best description of this song is, "Love starts with butterflies in the stomach, and ends in a darkened room with a bottle of whiskey & this song on repeat."

RIP James Calvin Wilsey, guitarist for the early LPs. Not sure why he left the band... but, Herschel, his replacement is a great guitarist himself. His best song? Probably, but these are close to perfect also.
Heart Full of Soul (Yardbirds cover)
Waiting For the Rain to Fall
Can’t Do A Thing To Stop Me
Solitary Man (Neil Diamond cover)
Love these, peace & music.

My favorite Chris Isaak song is “Flying”. You’ll love it too!

Love that song. Anything from that record or Almost Blue...

Saw Chris several times in the late 80s in the SF Bay Area. He played “Wicked Game” prior to its release, and the whole audience was just stunned. First time I heard it I said “oh that’s gonna be a monster!” ... the eponymous album is highly recommended.

I was lucky to see Chris in a couple of small venues in SF way back in the day. I think you’d like Blue Hotel, Heart Full of Soul and You Owe Me Some Kind...

Playlist or not, I'm glad you brought up the topic. I share your opinion because a playlist is personal. For me it's all about the melody, if the melody grabs be and makes me want to hear the song over and over again, its playlist. There are songs where the musicians are just so fantastic and in some cases the song is a masterpiece of proficiency, but the melody doesn't resonate with me. There are times I want to hear this type of music from an educational pov, however it always comes down to the melody. Melody rules all.

I've heard this song before and didn't think I liked it. I went to the link to listen to it and couldn't shut it off. I think I like it now!👍

That surfy guitar is Jimmy Wilsey. Isaak's music is always good, but this thing is just one of those cosmically harmonious moments in music.

Call Roy Orbison to mind when it comes to his vocal style and range. Isaak actually spent some time with him.

If you want to experience his range, I suggest "Lie to Me" from his self-titled album. He hits a note at the end that's flooring. A male siren, if ever there was one.

Chris Isaak is one of only two singers (along with Raul Malo of The Mavericks) who can channel Roy Orbison's soaring voice.

This is song is GREAT! Someone on YT made a video of Adrianna Lima with this song and it was perfect.

Blue Hotel, Baby did a bad bad thing, Solitary Man (wonderful cover), Blue Moon. He is very underappreciated. Crooning is a lost art.

Chris Isaak has a really nice style. There's a song he did called 'Can't do a thing to stop me' that became a big Chicago, stepper's cut. It's a great song. I saw him live at a taping of WttW's Sound Stage about 10 years ago. Excellent show.

I've loved that song since I first heard it too.

There is one band that i might suggest that could be on your playlist, The Sundays, it is a small english folk-pop- alternative rock band, their albums were: Reading Writing & Arithmetic, Blind, Static and Silence. If i may suggest, try 'Here's Where the Story Ends ' from their first album. Peace 🖖🏼
