“Fore!” is yelled beFORE you hit the ball into someone. “Sorry!” is what you yell when you hit the ball into someone. “Idiot!” is usually what you hear in response.

Correction: the show was called Welcome Back Kotter. Not Mr. KOTTER

Love you booth! Evolved from “Forecaddie”: In the early days of golf, forecaddies accompanied golfers around the course, tracking down errant shots. These caddies were crucial because golf balls were expensive. When a golfer hit a wayward shot, they would yell to the forecaddie to ensure they were watching and tracking. Over time, this shortened to simply yelling “fore” as a warning

Gabe Kaplan was on a show called "Welcome Back, Kotter".

Boy, I bet you are going to get hammered for the Kotter thing. Well, I can only add that “up your nose with a rubber hose, Seth.”

Googlebot says:
"The etymology of the word "fore" is uncertain, but there are a few theories:
Forecaddies: Golfers used to use forecaddies to watch where their ball was going, and "fore" may have been short for "for caddy".
Faugh a Ballagh: This is an Irish battle cry that means "clear the way".
Military connection: Gunners may have shouted "fore!" to let men in front know that shots were coming. "
The latter makes the most sense to me.
If you don't want the answer you shouldn't aft the question.

The term "fore" in golf is a Scottish interjection used to warn others of an oncoming golf ball. It's a courteous and safe way for golfers to communicate on the course and is considered an essential part of golf etiquette.

For someone born in ‘73 with a team of researchers and writers, I’m very surprised Seth got the name of Welcome back, Kotter, wrong. I was born in ‘76 and I vividly remember watching John Travolta on Welcome back, Kotter. I mean, it was no WKRP in Cincinnati, but it was still a really funny show.

Jackels unite. Scottish dialects, where ‘fore’ was used as an abbreviation of the word ‘before’ and was commonly used in hunting to warn others of incoming game

Seth should submit his Grinch pose to People for Sexiest Man Alive.

Correction: it's not a hockey mask. It's a helmet.
A mask is worn over mouth and nose. A helmet is a hard, protective headpiece serving as an armor.

Seth inadvertently stated that Gabe Kaplan was on a show, Mr. Kotter. More accurately, Gabe Kaplan is a standup comedian and professional poker player who assumed the role of Gabe Kotter on the situation comedy “Welcome Back, Kotter” (1975-1979).
