Anna Leigh Waters is just taking advantage of what other teams should be taking advantage of, which is catching BJ out of position. It's done numerous times in this video where you aim it towards the left of Parentau, then Johns will always reach for it, he gets out of position, aim for the hard angle at BJ's lower backhand and he pops it up almost every time. BJ fortunately, has never been taxed by it because he never had a player who would take advantage of it since ALW is the one with him.

I like Ben Jones but when he plays doubles he plays at least 3/4 of the court. I’m sure there’s a strategy there I just don’t like watching it. And I’ve been trying to do between the legs Like they do in tennis but I haven’t been able to do it

There is no point being playing doubles with Ben Johns unless you like to stand around and watch him play. If you notice he takes over all the shots even the ones in your court. I get it that his forehand is his best shot but if you must play doubles then pick a partner whose forehand is as good as Ben's so he doesn't make you serve and watch the entire match.

Prime example being 1:31, the shot was going to be comfortable for Parenteau (not a fan of hers either for the last moment partner switch) to pick up as it was coming at her, yet Ben had to come across the entire court after picking a difficult shot up to take that one and he completely mishit it. Parenteau at least would've continued the rally but Ben had to go for that one too.

Ben John's does what he does because in doubles there is a thing called strategy. People that don't understand pickleball think that each player has a separate side. There is nothing further from the truth. The only time the center line matters is on the serve, and that is it. If you don't understand that you shouldn't be watching pickleball at all.
