Over A Dozen Giant Sequoia Trees Fall During Strong Winds At Yosemite

Fifteen trees fell.

When I visited Sequoia National Park, the rangers said these trees have very shallow roots and quite often, when they become diseased or when a strong wind comes, they just fall over.

The weak and old Redwoods fall so there's room for new trees to grow. A healthy grove has trees from the very young to the very old.
