Rule number 37 on Birthday Gift Donation Etiquette: If you MUST donate any received gifts soon after receiving, donate in a city far, far away. Do not donate within the same city within the first year of receiving the gift. Which leads to rule number 38: If you MUST donate any received gift within the same city in which the giver resides, and it must be within the first year, remove all possible personalized information to avoid offending said giver.

Donated a Grimm's Birthday ring!!?? HOW DARE! They don't deserve it, Emily. Don't give it back. They clearly don't know quality and aren't even smart enough to google and find the resell value!!!

Don't be surprised if you find it back in Thrift on Saturday. But you may need to check more than one Thrift store. (We have dozens where I live.)

Just found out what a birthday ring is, and it's basically a birthday cake substitute to stick candles into. It's alright, Jaxon.

I found my ceramic decorative bowl at a thrift store. A very unique piece. My husband had secretly donated it hoping I wouldn’t notice. I purchased it. On Christmas Day I put it under the tree “from Santa.” with the Goodwill sticker still on it. 🎁

You bought it, then you bought it again. That's dedication. 😊

My thrift store find of the year was a box of crayons from 1980.. i might be the only 19 year old who would get excited over that

The birthday ring is a German tradition for celebrating a young child's birthday. Typically made of wood, the birthday ring has 12 to 16 open spaces to decorate. Adorn the ring with candles, ornaments representing your child and other treasures like play silks or found objects.

This happened with my mom and me 3 years ago. I gifted her a copy of my wedding picture in a beautiful frame that she had asked for. A week later I found it at our local Goodwill. Her excuse was that she must have donated it by mistake. To this day she still only has photos of my brother and sisters weddings in her home.

I like how Jason had nothing to do with that gift. 😂

Why does this feel like the beginning of an horror movie for jaxon whenever he gets rid of it, it just reappears (emily gifting it again) and he slowly loses his sanity 😂

Hey once you gift it to them it is there's to do as they please. No guilt here... purge those unwanted gifts. It is so liberating. 😅

I remember when this was fun but her lack of accountability and the fact she doesn't like to be respectfully questioned is such a sadness

Don’t get me wrong, those are some GORGEOUS pieces…… but why the hell would a child want that as a present Emily 😂😂😂 that’s not something they can play with, and it’s WAY to expensive to even *_WANT_* a child to touch them!!!

It’s weird and presumptuous to give someone a gift with the expectation that they keep it for their children’s children. Yeah I’d be getting rid of that thing too.

Says on the description “Not suitable for use as a toy” no blame to Jaxon.

My daughter accidentally left a sweat shirt at a friend's house. The next week, we found it at a thrift store. She got it back for $2.00.

Honestly. She had it coming. Maybe next time try gifting something he would actually enjoy. Like some homemade kombucha and sourdough pizza with self made mozzarella and fresh ground pork with a BBQ sauce topping. And don't be shy on the stuffed crust and caramelized onions! 🎉

Just because you chose a gift for someone doesnt give it value.

If they didn't want it the first time, why would getting it back have another result

Well, it does say Warning: This is for decorative use only, NOT A TOY. Emphasis mine. Just in case someone wants to purchase one.
