Let's talk about Wix! eGuide is currently a Wix partner, and we love this tool for our organization. If you use Wix, then this video is for you!

There's some active user tension between the Classic Editor Wix and the Editor X versions of Wix, so we'll take some time to compare the two. While this can come down to preference, we'll get into some of the differences, pros/cons, and our perspective.

So, what's possible in Editor X that isn’t possible in Classic?

Editors have become more mobile-friendly, and the Wix Classic Editor puts some hard parameters on the edges of the page, impacting the scalability and re-rendering that needs to happen on a modern editor. The need for mobile-friendly sites are big requirements of the present and future, and you can get a little boxed in with the Classic Wix editor. The Classic Wix does not allow for view of less-than-full-screen views. Editor X allows for that responsive design.

Editor X seems to be most positively endorsed by freelancers. The more casual user seems to have a lot of trouble going from version to version and tends to stick to Classic.

Advantages to the Classic Editor - what makes it easier to the casual user?
- Biggest thing: affordable price point. There’s no free version of Editor X.
- The Classic Editor makes it really hard to get “lost” in the site. This is easy for those starting from scratch, unlike Editor X, where we recommend having prior knowledge or training, as it requires lots of fine tuning.

We at eGuide currently have 47 active sites on Wix that we have helped build up on Classic Editor. All of them belong to smaller organizations. If you are looking to have cool graphics and scroll effects seamlessly appear, well, that’s what we do! We aim to achieve functionable, usable, websites that are able to be used as tools and are easy to hand over.

There is a third version of Wix - Wix ADI Functionality. Here, you just fill out forms and it automatically does the work for you. This has a seamless transition into the Classic Editor, however, the transition into the Editor X version is a bit clunkier. If you’re looking to just throw some ideas up to translate to an editing team, this can be a great place to start.

We mentioned that ample training is needed to best manipulate Editor X. However, if you need a show-stopping portfolio with all the fine tunage to guide certain user experiences, then Editor X is the way to go!
