Gravitas: Saudi Arabia re-gains lost popularity among Indian workers

Saudi Arabia has witnessed a five-fold year-on-year increase in the number of Indian workers taking up a job in the Gulf monarchy in 2022, as per statistics by the Indian government. More Indian expats moved to Saudi Arabia for a job than any other west Asian nation in 2022.

Trust me as a Saudi, the death most likely caused by the laborer workers themselves. They never put on safety gears, they never put shoes, gloves or helmet on. I have seen a welder that never uses protective glasses while welding. I told him why? He said he doesn’t care!! I think India and other Asian countries should only send well trained and educated labor workers because most of the workers here are learning by practicing on us, Saudi People.

Thanks ot Modiji, India's relationship with Saudi Arabia and UAE have improved with investments from these countries having increased significantly. Moreover both UAE and Saudi Arabia should soon become part of BRICS+. Money will come and go but it is important to show solidarity and unity.

What's there in Kuwait? They kicked out some 300, 000 Indians out during covid. Now again going there to get kicked out in the gulf are becoming tougher on every months not on yearly basis. It's useless to work in gulf as there are no benefits or savings serving those looking to next 5 yrs at least. But ignoring localisation happening there n going their is utter stupidity of some Indians.

The disparity cited of 1:10 years is serious. Dis is like Mexicans & USA ! Something has to be done to close down this gap given the high no. Of deaths . These countries r exploiters have poor or no labour laws so it is a govt. Reality is different. Majority would never earn any money. Others would be left stuck in Saudi for years with their visas being forcefully taken away from them
