Yesterday I just happened to see two unopened jigsaws in one of the local charity shops, but thought nothing of it so left them.
Then, last night after taking my wife to work I was watching YouTube and for seemingly no reason there was a video about the jigsaw world championships, which I watched and seemed hooked on. I then watched a couple more, then your three videos on the subject.
I'm thinking, at 65 they could maybe be useful for keeping the brain functioning, so today I went out and bought the two I saw yesterday and two other ones.
I'll try the first one shortly .. it's only 500 pieces but I guess, you have to start somewhere.
Maybe I can try a 24, 000 piece puzzle when I get more experienced ... and find the space for it too.

Excellent tips. I especially liked your suggestion to stand up and look at the puzzle from a distance. This has helped me to find the very piece I needed once I had a different perspective.

My pieces usually sort into about 14-16 colors. I use supermarket trays, the kind used for stacking canned goods, and line them up on the floor. I don't have room on my table to sort them there. I do small section on cardboard, then slide them into the puzzle. Instead of her spatula, I slide a smooth piece of paper under groups to be moved.

maybe I missed it, by when you were putting the sign together, did you first have to search through the box for all the colors and shapes? Dumb question, but newbie to this hobby.

I’m quite experienced but as an example I’ve gone through a 2000 piece jigsaw up to four times before I’ve got all the Flats!
