Let's Drive: Audi A8 3.0 TDI @ Fast Drive // 40 km German Autobahn

Gran Turismo - that's what Audi's flagship is build for. But it got another side: Powerful dynamic. Although it's not a light weight (kerb weight 1955 kg). I've taken the challenge and put drive select on "Dynamic" - which means: hardened steering, musculous sound, stiffened chassis. The 8-speed tiptronic also wearing sporty ambitions while staying in S-Modus. So, let's see what this entry-level Diesel can do!

That time I drove an A7 - and a little bit faster than here. So - is the 245hp A7 really faster? Not for sure, but the A7 was equipped with S-Line package and summer tires. That might explain it's higher grade of stability.

Der Audi A8 als größtes Pferd im Ingolstädter Stall ist der prädestinierte Langstreckengleiter dieser Marke. Aber auch die Dynamik macht er sich trotz seiner stattlichen Leermasse (1955 kg) gern zu Eigen. Also: drive select auf Dynamik gestellt (beeinflusst Antrieb, Fahrwerk und Lenkung), die 8-Gang-Tiptronic in den sportlichen S-Modus geschickt und ab geht die flotte Fahrt!

Die Strecke kommt euch bekannt vor? Sicherlich, denn es ist die gleiche wie im A7-Video.

Dort spulte ich die Distanz allerdings schneller ab - ist der A7 nun schneller? Mitnichten! Beide nehmen sich nicht viel: Der A8 wiegt nur 60 kg mehr und übertrumpft den A7 um 10 kW (13 PS). Die schnellen Kurvenfahrten vermittelten im A7 aber ein sichereres Gefühl, der A8 rollte dagegen bereits auf Winterreifen.

German Autobahn was specially constructed to drive fast. There is a lil tilt into the inside in each corner which makes it possible to be fast in the corners too.

Großes Lob an den Fahrer. Sehr diszipliniert und vorausschauend gefahren. Kein Drängeln, immer genug Sicherheitsabstand. Kein Vergleich mit vielen anderen "Ich fahr schnell auf der Autobahn"-Videos hier bei YT. Da würde ich auch gern mitfahren -als Beifahrer natürlich. :D

Wenn doch alle Fahrer von schnellen Autos in D so fahren würden. :)

Wow those German limousine are just beast, really quiet nothing struggles, you hear the wind, it is really stable at high speed

Its amazing how qickly it goes from 150 to 200 (not to say from 50 - 150) ... And quiet machine, I hear mostly wind swish by. And 250 is like totally effortless. And I just now realised, it is a 3L diesel! Cannot believe it.

Fantastic Auto, Very quiet for that fast speed on autobahn. Simply fantastic. Driver keeps two hands on steering wheel, signals lane changes👍some American drivers could learn from this...good job sir.
