I used to believe being financially responsible was complex. It’s as simple as discipline. Thanks Ramsey FAM❤️

I had a large emergency fund but I was making car payments every month. MYTH: I thought making a car payment was normal. A month or so after finding the Ramsey channel I paid off my car with one payment.

I believed that I needed a very high paying job to become wealthy. Watching you guys, I now know you really don’t… it’s about educating yourself and being disciplined with your money!! Thank you!

I used to believe that renting was a waste of money. I’m so glad that my husband and I decided to keep renting because it just makes sense for us at this time in our lives!

Love these videos and I started watching your channel when I was 24 years old. My myth I believed was that you HAD to have a credit score to buy a house or a car or whatever. Im 27 now and still soaking it all up and learning!! I am one credit card away from being duet free and it feels amazing! Your channel is a big blessing to me and so many others!

Love you girl. Your whole family has been a godsend. It’s so incredible how all of this came from a season of hardship. Your parents enduring trials was what catapulted all of this. All of us learning from you is from how your parents responded to a trial (plus of course y’all working tirelessly for decades after). Every choice matters though. We are the ripple effect.

Thanks, Rachel! This was so helpful. I’ve been believing the myth that real estate investments are the fastest way to build wealth. Your comments reminded me that building wealth is a process that takes time and steady work. My husband and I are trying to get rid of medical school debt, but it has felt so hopeless at times. Your tips and reminders are helping me keep in the right mindset to not give up and make good choices. We’re hoping to do the FPU course at some point in the future!

Myth I believed: When I turned 18 the first thing my parents told me was, “you need to get a credit card to start building your credit.” So I did, and that started decades of trying to navigate looming debt and just getting by with minimum payments.

I have learned over the years after watching Dave that was completely wrong. While my husband and I are still working to get out of debt and are actively working the baby steps, we have thankfully taught our kids a different way of thinking. Our hope is that they will never have to believe the myths we did.

I used to believe that you need a credit score to buy a house. I'm so happy it's a myth and that there are companies out there that can still do manual underwriting.

Mine is a myth you didn’t mention but hopefully still puts me in for the free trial. My myth I believed & created for myself was that consolidating debt would get me out of debt faster. Growing up I never spoke with my family about money & it wasn’t until I moved out to join the USMC that I began learning on my own. Credit cards, car loans, personally loans, and even store credit all pulled me in. Consolidating what I could seemed to be the solution but in reality it only made it easier for me to spend more. I’ve changed my ways & got on the baby steps path to building true wealth for my family. Thank you for your helpful videos Rachel.

I come from a long line of self employed/small business owners. It’s a wonderful thing to work for yourself but I was always told you have spend money to make money….debt is just the only way to make it. Since being introduced to Dave Ramsey, which led me to your channel I can see light at the end of the tunnel!

I always believed you had to finance things and build up your credit score to get anywhere, now I know it is better to save up and pay cash. I am so glad I found Ramsey your teachings make perfect sense. I share your videos with my kids hoping they will love them as much as me, I wish someone had shared them with me when I was young, I would have made a lot of different choices with my money.

I always thought you had to have the credit score to get large items. My sis in law tried to buy her dad a recliner for Christmas one year and couldn't get it financed because she had never had any credit. She was a good saver but needed to build credit by financing the chair. So therefore I've always thought you had to have that score. Thanks for another informative video!🙂

My money myth was you had to have a good credit score. Now I know it just shows the debt you have. My husband just passed away… and feeling overwhelmed, this was a great reminder. Thank you.

I believed paying off my credit card each month while receiving points was a way to “beat the system”. Stats show I was spending more money while doing that! Thank you for posting helpful content.

I used to believe that debt was part of life. When I discovered Dave Ramsey in 2006, I completely changed my thinking! It took me almost 8 years to get out of debt, but I did it. Now I share the Baby Steps, FPU, Legacy Journey, Smart Money, etc. with anyone who will listen! I taught my five kids immediately, and they are on a much better path that I started with!!!

Used to be in a heap of debt, using DR principles we got out and saved 3m emergency fund. Husband lost his job in February and has just now found a new job! Those 3 m without a paycheck was really tough but thanks to our emergency fund we had just enough. Thank God

First thank you so much for posting these videos! Huge fan and I have learned a ton between you and Dave Ramsey. As for the myth I used to believe; I used to think it was better for your credit score to make regular minimum payments on things (ex car) instead of pushing to pay it off faster and back then credit score of course was everything…. Thank goodness that is no longer my belief. Now my bigger challenge is just working on my budgeting skills to finish paying off student loans and our house. Gazelle intense and pushing through!!
