I am a beginner pianist learning all by myself with no proper training or teacher. Your videos really help me. Whenever I feel like leaving to play the piano, your videos give me motivation to continue to practice and makes me feel happy. I can just say that I am really thankful to the whole team of pianote helping millions of students across the globe learn piano. Keep up the good work.
Btw, the video was really helpful. 🥰

Thank you. Your channel is exactly what I need right now. When I was very young, my aunt started to teach me how to play the piano. This soon petered out after a couple of weeks and I lost interest in the technical side of things. I could not develop my reading skills as if I had heard the song I would just play by ear. Jump forward to my very early teens and like ten million other kids I took up the guitar. Piano was something that I had abandoned years before and not made any progress with. And like a lot of my friends I only had a few lessons until I knew a few cords. Then it was out with the records and learn all those Deep Purple/ Led Zeppelin riffs by ear. And so time passed. I grew up, got a trade under my belt and sailed forth into life. Marriage, kids and career. Music in general and guitar in particular became my escape from the stresses of life. Then, as my kids started in school, they took up musical instruments, mainly the piano. After what seemed like a very short space of time they were playing tunes. I found myself becoming very envious of my two daughter's ability to just sit at the piano and knock out a tune. They could do this long after the lessons at school stopped. I finally asked my young nephew who by this time was a professional musician to give me lessons. Again this only went for only a few months until life threw in another fork in the road and the lessons stopped. Flash forward to today. I never stopped playing the guitar, in fact I've now been playing for some 40 years and I can fool a lot of people into thinking I'm a gun. And maybe I am but deep down I still don't have a competent grasp of music theory and I still longed to play the piano. So enter Covid and lockdown. I'm using the time to get on the kids old piano and start banging away at least half an hour a day every day. I'm using the old books I still have from my lessons with my nephew and, I've discovered the enlightenments of Youtube and just now your good self. I'm excited and I'm making good progress. I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to more of your videos. Thank you once again. P.S. It's fun how I can still play a C scale as my aunty taught me all those years ago.

I feel very emotional just listening to your play and I can't imagine what would it be if I translate this beautiful chord progression (4notes + 5notes) on a classical guitar play.. I would be spending a box of paper towel wiping out my tears. Thank you so much for the great tutorial, Pianote. Lots of love from Malaysia ♥️

A lot of practicing and every bit of composing is just that. You invent a progression on a few chords, but what you really are doing is exploring a story told through a change of moods. I don't play much piano, but I work a lot with mucisians, and just looking at them through their warmup, seeing how they mentally change as they get into their focus, is very much what you are going through in this video. It is a beautyful thing every time!

Love your teaching style. As a trumpet player and someone who studied piano in the traditional manner of memorizing scales and theory, this approach really resonates with me. You get people playing immediately and the ability to create simple music totally reinforces the desire to learn more. Thank you.

Contemplative and introspective, calm and restful… Centering… Those are the vibes I’m getting. Love your videos. So easy to follow and encouraging, and the emphasis on the feeling of playing piano rather than the technical skills only. Two things have gotten me through a rocky childhood - my God and my music. Sometimes we just need encouragement that we can do it and even the simple things are stunningly beautiful. I love how you carry that message through your videos to all of us!

Place the thumb on an octave above middle C on C with the right hand. Play a melody of 5, 3, 2, and 1 with the right hand. With the left hand alternate playing of various notes a fifth apart up and down the keyboard for emotional variety, and tension variations. Note that raising the pitch raises the emotional pitch and emotional intensity.
