Forcing kids to give hugs for the holidays

How do you react when a relative expects hugs and kisses from your kids? Experts say it's one thing if your kids know that relative and feel comfortable.

Allow a child to hug if they feel up to it, otherwise enjoy happy discussion with the child and let the issue rest for itself. The child might change their mind later on and hug the relative on their own terms.
