Steve Hackett is such a true class act, amazing guitar player, great composer and an all round gentleman. Nothing but love and respect for one of the true legends of the prog rock genre

Thanks, John. I've been a huge Steve Hackett (and Chris Squire) fan for over 40 years. It's great to hear these interviews. I look forward to them.

“Their [Beatles] virtuosity was in the songwriting department.” I’ve always felt this way, and beat myself up for not having the chops in the instrumental sense (fast improvisation). Steve offered other great thoughts. Thanks, Steve. Love ALL of this interview.

I loved Chris's story about meeting Hendrix at the Marquee. Also, his funny story about how his famous Rickenbacker bass kept getting shaved down after each time he decorated it! Re Steve: I remember buying his album 'Momentum' in 1988. Great album.

Nice interview. Not really familiar with Steve but was thinking of Chris less than 10 minutes ago when a suggested vid here was a tour of The Rickenbacker factory. From 9 years ago so passed for now but did bring up a sorta funny memory.
In the '80s, i read a guitar magazine interview (GP or GW) with Chris. There he shared a story about visiting the Ric factory and they were happy to see him and had something to show him.
He was thinking 'wow, i'm gonna get an award or something'.
Nope, it was a walk to a room filled with basses in for fret repair. All these guys took off the flat wound strings in favor of RotoSound round wound strings like Chris used ! Seem to recall it was warranty work but not sure.
Fan of Yes since '72 and Fragile. Saw them at Winterland for "Tales...". I went there 10 or 15 times. This was the only show i saw that had quadraphonic sound, a set of speakers left and right 2/3 up the floor on scaffolds. Pretty great.

It's amusing that Steve says that Chris liked his wine and in their interview together, Chris has wine while Steve has a mug of coffee or tea.

With all due respect to Steve Hackett, Chris Squire died of a rare form of leukemia. It is not alcohol induced.
