Iran has:

-proxies all over the Middle East that it backs, one of which continously gains more and more power in Lebanon (Hezbollah)
-has successfully managed to help Syria's government defeat most of the rebels (okay, Russia helped too, but still)
-pretty much is the only backetr of Yemen's Houthis, who managed to stand their ground against a huge coalition that was backed by the USA, and is even fighting Israel right now (albeit their involvement is very limited)

I'm not a fan of Iran's government at all, but their achievements are impressive even today, they are definitely not weak.
