Satellite Images Appear to Show Mass Grave Near Mariupol

Satellite images released by Maxar technologies appeared to show hundreds of freshly-dug graves in a Ukrainian town, as the mayor of the besieged port city of Mariupol said Russian troops were burying Ukrainian civilians killed in the conflict in order to cover up "military crimes.”

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko claimed that the Russians buried hundreds of civilians outside Mariupol.

Boychenko said that “the bodies started disappearing from the streets of the city,” charging that the Russians were “hiding the trace of their crimes and using mass graves as one of the instruments for that.”

He said that the Russians dug huge trenches near Manhush, 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) west of Mariupol.

“They are taking the bodies of the dead residents of Mariupol in trucks and throw them into those trenches,” he said during an online briefing.

“They are hiding their military crimes,” he said.

The images from Maxar appeared to show around 200 graves dug in Manhush between March and April.

I think there is a difference between "mass graves" and "many new individual graves". It is a war zone so I imagine that there would be casualties the require graves. Mass graves are usually unmarked pits filled with bodies, not neat holes dug in the ground...

If you squint your eyes, you can see another mass grave filled with Ukrainians that the Azov Battalion has either executed or used as human shields.

Are they talking about that group of ~15 dots in the upper right area? That's not a mass grave, that's a few burials. It also appears to be right next to an existing cemetery, which is also not a mass grave, it's just graves.

I will comment on the title since there was no content : Ukraine officially announced over 20k civilian casualties, which inevitably means mass graves to dispose of the bodies to avoid deseases...
What the title implies is having war crimes, which is not unlikely in wars but it should be corroborated by proofs as dictated by the basics of proper journalism!

if we're looking at that section to the bottom left that looks like it's the surface of an asteroid pelted by meteorites.. I'm more willing to believe that's a graveyard.. no reason a mass grave that pops up over night would have individual plots and a structured design.. it'd be one giant hole in the ground where a collective of bodies would be buried.. and I'm just not seeing that anywhere here..
