Maica Domnului este răspunsul lui Dumnezeu dat pă­rinţilor ei, la stăruitoarele lor rugăciuni. În același timp, Maica Domnului este tot ceea ce au putut oamenii să dea mai bun Creatorului lor; în Maica Domnului, vasul sfinţeniei, s-a realizat acea „logodire” a celor două firi – dumnezeiască şi omenească –, în persoana Fiului lui Dumnezeu întrupat.
