Here is short video of the CNC EncoderPad in use.
Switches are Clicky Gateron Blue. Each switch has an independent white LED. The LEDs are programmed to indicate which mode the encoder is currently in. By changing mode, rotating the wheel will send different command (keycodes) to the computer.
The Rotary Encoder is a Manual Pulse Generator for use with CNC machines. As you can hear, it's very "clicky" and doesn't turn freely as there are stops that you feel and hear as you turn. It has 100 steps per revolution.
There is also a small speaker on board to help provide status updates.
