I am originally from NY, now living in Florida. When i moved down here i requested a transfer from my company to one of their braches here. When i got to my new facility and they saw what i was making on salary from NY, my manager told me that i was making two much money and that he had to cut my salary because Florida's minimum wage is lower than NY. I told my manager that i came in a transfer, and that i was still under contract by the company and i was doing in Florida exactly the same job and position i had in NY, and that him wanting to lower my paid had no basis. Guess what? I kept my salary. Florida is like a different country where laws always work against their citizens.
