Battery tests of iOS 15.8.2 & 16.7.6 will be made in the week that starts on March 18th. I will be travelling the next days and will not have time to make those videos before that. Sorry for that.

iOS 17.4 was released March 5th, 2024

This video was shot more than 48 hours after iOS 17.4 was installed, normally I will let it sit for a few days to settle in, but
thought I would give it a go with just 48 hours. I monitored the CPU it was idle for the last 2 hours before the test was started so
nothing seemed to be going on on the devices. I will however run the rest again in a few days and update the scores here in the comments.

Before the test was run the devices were set to 25% display brightness, auto brightness has been disabled, all devices use same settings, and are connected to the same access point.

How Geekbench works :

Geekbench 4 battery scores measure the battery life of a device when running processor-intensive applications. It provides a consistent workload to the device, and generates a Geekbench score by evaluating the amount of work that it is able to do while the battery is discharging and the amount of time it takes for the battery to discharge.

The battery benchmark can be run in Full Discharge mode, from 100% to 0% battery level, to provide a high level of confidence in a device's battery performance. The battery benchmark can also be run in Partial Discharge mode, for 3 hours. If the battery benchmark is stopped after 10 minutes, by the user or by the battery reaching 0%, then the result will be saved and can be uploaded. Battery benchmark scores gathered by any method except the Full Discharge mode provide a medium level of confidence in a device's battery performance, and longer tests are more reliable.

When comparing scores, remember that higher scores are better, and double the score indicates double the performance.

The iPhone 13 battery dropping is strange. I think you should do a double test, one after 3 days and one as a follow-up. Because the indexing time is not going to be identical for each processor. Older models might take longer. I would recommend a follow-up for best accuracy. Also, the speed test results need some kind of graph or conclusion as well, because in every video, there aren't any comparisons or anything. But most people are concerned about battery life the most. Thanks for running these!

iPhone 13 here. i just updated to 17.4 from 16.6.1. honestly guys its pretty much the same. littile bit smoother and responsive. its your 5G that’s draining your battery quickly. i am still using 3G/LTE on mine. same battery drain through out the day on 16.6.1 🤷🏻

Glad to see good battery life on iPhone 12, 15 and Xr. Sad to see the battery life topper iPhone 13 downgraded by iOS 17 updates. Let's see how Apple iPhone 15 holds up till iOS 18 which is touted as AI focused Software and really check how good the battery chemistry is according to iPhone maker.

The iPhone 13 test is tremendous.
It is not normal.
I'm on iOS 17.1 and I'm afraid to update to 17.4
At the moment I am NOT going to update with such terrifying data.
Let's hope Apple fixes that problem.

Thanks for posting this great video, but could you do the test again on your new iPhone 15.😂😂😂🎉🎉 I think you just updated your phone a few days ago, so it needs some time to get your iPhone 15 stable. Tkks again

Remember when the 13 had a ~10/9h battery life? I remember. The gimp is real.

iphone 12 mini. Upgraded from 16.6.1 to 17.4 because I saw the difference is only 200 points. About 1 week now with battery health at 83%. Got about the same screen on time when I was on 16.6.1 which is around 4 to 6 hours. More hours with less standby time, fewer hours with more standby time. But when the phone gets really hot, the ui animation stutters or lags, but rarely. Never happened during ios 16 days.
