If you put a capo on fret 3 with standard tuning, it actually sounds like the song. You have the three chords right but this is the capo version on fret 3. Tom Petty actually plays a couple different easy chords with capo on Fret I think the correct version he plays uses E major, Asus power chord (2 string A chord), and a B power chord that is easy.
