Royal International Air Tattoo 2018
The Boeing F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engined multirole fighter designed in the United States. Most of the Finnish Air Force's F/A-18C and D Hornet fleet is divided between Lapland and Karelia Air Commands, where they equip Fighter Squadrons 11 and 31 respectively, and form the service's primary striking power. The Hornet is operated in the training, air policing, and defensive counter-air roles in times of crisis

The pilot Capt Lauri Mäkinen from Fighter Squadron 31 of the Finnish Air Force won the Sir Douglas Bader Trophy for the best individual flying demonstration with this display.

A very good display of the Hornet's strengths, like nose authority and slow speed controlability.

Love the silhouette of a hornet !! ..still nothing better than a F14 tomcat ..the fighter jets ( F35, F22) have all the new technology and capabilities needed for today's military needs but the tomcat will always be one of the top 5 fighter jets ever built as far as service and dog fight wins ..I spend a lot of time on numerous airforce and navy bases and for 20 years I dont think there's ever been a time that i didnt stop what i was doing and watch as any fighter jet takes off ..everytime is like the first time watching and I still have the same amazement as I did when I watched a fighter jet take off when i was 6 years old ... my job allows me to get up close to these planes on a regular basis so I consider myself lucky to have such a privilege not only being around the planes but the pilots and ground crew as well ..GOD BLESS AMERICA and all who serve our country with honor and pride !

What a cracking display from an obviously VERY talented pilot! The Hornet still has a few tricks up its sleeve as well as looking great. Thanks for the vid Elywn 👍😄

The F18 does the job doesn't she?

Funny hiw the F18 flies where the nose points when the pilot pulls some Gs at 150kts, not just drops her hind quarters and falls out off the sky arse first like certain other jets. ^^)

Another great video, so impressed with the quality, do you film in 4K or are you filming in 1080?

Never gets enough accolades like the F15 or F16...but clearly this plane is more maneuverable than them.

The last time as i saw a Finnish F-18 Hornet in the Flying Display at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford was in 2015. This One comes Eventually from the Airbase at Rovaniemi at Finnland. The other 2 F-18 Hornets that took Part at RIAT This Year has come from the Swiss Airforce and from the Royal Canadian Airforce. In 2016 have been took Part The F-A 18 Super Hornet from the U.S Navy. Greetings from Germany! Great Air Tattoo This Year. See you at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 at RAF Fairford again.

Gorgeous aircraft. It gets panned as a slow ugly thing compared to the other US teens but I'll be sad to see it replaced with the fat stumpy looking f35 (Australia) even if that is a quantum leap forward.
