The Palace of Phaistos in Crete

🏺 The Palace of Phaistos in Crete is one of the most important sites of Minoan civilization, dating back to 2000 BC. Located in southern Heraklion, it was once a powerful city, rivaling Knossos. Though damaged by earthquakes, its ruins reveal insights into Minoan culture, architecture, and daily life.

📜 One of its most famous discoveries is the Phaistos Disc, a 15cm clay disk with mysterious symbols that remain undeciphered to this day. You can see it at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. The palace also features the Central Court, where political and social gatherings took place, and the West Court, known for its tiered seating used for ceremonies.
