The Store | A quick preview with Hanna Sköld

The Store is a hybrid film that combines live action with one-step animation.
It is a drama/fantasy that, with a humorous and visionary touch, reflects about increasingly problematic conditions of European workers in the service sector, while also looking at environmental issues.

Eleni, a single mother, has been promoted to manager in a low-price supermarket. She feels compelled to prove that she’s capable. She pushes her workers to their very limits, forcing them to work without breaks, yet decreasing their work hours at the same time. She’s determined to improve their results, and she will achieve this with the help of her best employee – Shukri. But Shukri when discovers that she’s pregnant, she’s afraid to let Eleni find out, and begins hiding her growing belly in order to not get fired.

Meanwhile, two homeless women are building a camp behind the store. Conflicts arise when they collect discarded food from the store’s waste, but this also initiates relationships between the employees and the homeless women. ”The Store” is a satire-drama, created through of a combination of puppet animation and live action.
