This is my exact setup. I have sold my M1 MacBook Air and use my M1 iPad Pro and iPad Mini 6. As an educator, I use my mini to have my lesson plan and any “teachers notes” I need for the day open while I use an old apple TV (i got it for like $50 used, its an ancient model) to stream my Pro’s screen as I annotate on any slides or PDFs. I teach both math and science and as you can imagine, having an apple pencil is a necessity. I have been given great reviews by my admin for being able to walk around the class as I lecture and it really helps with student engagement too. Instead of wasting time having the kids go up to the board to solve answers, I can just plop the iPad on to their desk and they use my apple pencil to solve their work in real time.

I have tried Windows/Android equivalents, but nothing beats the polish and ease of use Apple’s ecosystem has.

Agreed. My whole system now is iPad Pro 12.9”, Ipad mini 6 and iPhone 10sMax. No Macs or PCs. It does everything I need way more efficiently and faster than a computer.

I really love your video. I have a 12.9" ipad pro with 64 GB memory and I just purchased a new 12.9" ipad pro w 2 TB memory. I was going to trade in my first ipad pro, but after your video, I decided to keep it and use it side by side with my new one. Here's how...
1) design with Shapr3D cad software on one while using the other for my Goodnotes sketchbook and planner.
2) When presenting to large groups, I can connect each to a separate TV monitor to run powerpoint on one and YouTube or Shapr3D on the other. (When the TVs aren't apple TVs, I can only have either ppt for song lyrics up or youtube song playing. (not both at same time as I need). It's some problem with the hdmi cable's firmware and apple. I can have my speaker notes on my iphone.
Thanks for your inspiration!

I use the same devices as you. I use my 12.9 for work, writing, school, and design. My mini is my fun device— reading, games, Netflix, but also notes and coaching (stats etc). I don’t take my MacBook anywhere anymore, it stays connected to my monitor at my desk.

Hi, I have both the m2 iPad Pro 12.9 and mini 6. I don’t own a laptop or desktop. My 12.9 is my main computer and my mini 6 is used similarly to you, it is also my second brain due to ADHD.
I would love you to do a 2 part video of both iPads, 1st one of the apps you use on the pro and the 2nd of the apps on the mini and the reason for why you use the apps on each device instead of the other, plus the apps that cross over. Hopefully I will get some inspiration for my dual usage.
Love you videos

What is the iPad case you are using that is compatible with the Magic Keyboard?

I am a musician and would like to mirror my screen onto a second iPad for the singer to see the lyrics and be in sync.
So far I’ve been unable to find any way to do this especially when I’m out on a gig and there’s no Internet access.

I have the 12.9” iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 6. I have them set up basically the same because I use them for mainly the same purposes minus the keyboard&Trackpad on the Pro. There are times when I don’t want to or can’t bring my backpad with the big iPad and other stuff with me, which is where the Mini comes in since it can fit in my jacket pocket.

Hello Michael, Thanks for sharing as always 🙏
Yeah, please do share about your professional works a little bit in future video, so we can understand more better of these productivity.
I recently ordered BENKS ipad magnetic stand holder 360 degree - for my 12.9 inch Ipad pro M1 . That i found useful for my productivity when watched most people using it at desk.

I'm experimenting. I have an iMac that's my main work station, an 11 inch iPad if I need to do work away from home, and the Mini for reading, sketching, watching videos.

Yo Mike! It feels like you made this video for me! I had the rego 6th gen then “upgraded” to the 9th gen recently. I’m in sales and visit schools a lot…it’s nice to pull out my iPad for notes but it was kinda big and I could just use my laptop at that point. Enter the mini…I was late picking this up but it is my savior for taking notes, playing games, reading news/books and general research. My ninth gen is more for drawing and note taking but I prefer the second gen pencil. I also use the big iPad when sharing things with customers and as a display on my Twelve South HoverBar at conferences. I agree it would be great to be able to use the mini as a second screen. I love the portability of the mini and take it everywhere with me.

Interesting. I use the Pro (11”) and Mini 6 in a very similar way. The Mini mostly stays in my bedroom or near the couch, so I can pick it up to read, look at Pinterest, or other leisure apps. I also use it as a planner with the Apple Pencil. The Pro is more oriented toward work.

🤔QOTD❓What's on your iPadOS wishlist? My top three are
• Improve display scaling of widgets and home screen on iPad mini
• Improve multitasking functionality between two iPads with a secondary display
• Allow games to run on full screen on a secondary display.

Great video. I'm thinking of getting a mini for the same sorts of uses as you and this video was helpful. Thanks.

I could get rid of my Mac and only use my IPad Pro M2 12.9 but the software is the limiting factor. It’s plenty powerful but with nerfed versions of Microsoft office and even the native Apple counterparts to Microsoft office, it’s impossible to BUILD complex spreadsheets and draft from scratch legal documents. The only work around I can find is to prebuild them on the full desktop application.

I’m debating on doing the same.

Of course one is going to be the Mini, cause that would be my portable entertainment hub. I’m considering the iPad 10 as my bigger tablet just to be my main typewriter and note taker. I know everyone will be like “get the Air if you don’t want the Pro”…but I seriously don’t know if I even need all that power. Unless I find a good refurbished iPad Air 4, I don’t think I want to jump to a secondary tablet. I’d put a keyboard case to make it my mini laptop replacement and that’d be most of its use.

I have a different meaning for 'productivity' but I have a iPad mini since 2019 and I will say that is a great device and I love it but now I have a iPad pro and I will never come back to the mini. Right now is great for play games and avoid my pro getting low on battery... it's like split things and put everything useless in the mini, for sure it's good but only because that iPad is already there! Probably I will sell my mini if good money.
