Which still doesn’t explain Joe.

That might be because in Japanese, the movie Jaws is pretty well known and you can kinda use it colloquially to refer to sharks (similar to how people would in english). Anyways, it’s written as “ジョーズ (Joozu) which sounds exactly the same as how youd pronounce “Joe’s”.
