I dedicate this performance of Billie Eilish's beautiful song "i love you" to my stepfather.
He was a tiny, bitter and hurtful man
who taught me to believe, that everything about me
that was in his resemblance was wrong.
We did not share any blood. Therefore, everything about me was wrong.
He gave me proof to that fact every day.

When he died, I cried. because i was relieved.
But he never really left.

HE taught me how to tell myself
that i am not good enough.
And to distrust those who give me affection.

I am carrying my stepfather in my heart every day.
But I know, one day i will defeat him.
Him and every tiny, bitter man.
Who treats the world the way he did.

I am dedicating this video to my stepfather, because it's everything he would not have been able to appreciate.
This is me. Singing the song a teenage girl wrote. Together with the friends that have seen me cry and laugh more than he ever did.
