Europe better invest now in defense or pay a heavy price in a couple of years.

Russia: *attacks Europe*
Europe: *defends itself*
Russia: "oh so you don't want peace?"

3:45 Germany was cautious initially, but it went from 5000 helmets to 5000 drones per month over the last few years. That Scholz was not willing to give Taurus missiles could also have other reasons. Merz seems more decisive and more hawkish on Russia, but he has never governed before. So let's see.

Trump during election: I will solve the war in 24 hours
Trump in office: Putin can have Ukraine, I will have Greenland, Canada, Panama and Gaza.

This would've been a great idea... in 2014.

Polish PM said it's unlikely that they deploy troops to Ukraine, since they are dealing with Russia/Belarus on the border too. I don't think that baltics would sent troops to Ukraine for same reasoning. Its really up to

Don't like Starmer but he's managed to look proper statesmanlike in the past week. Might not get me to vote Labour but I'm glad our PM is looking decent on the international stage again.

"Oh no, Ukraine didn't sign the deal..."
You mean the deal that gave them nothing? I don't see a problem with that.

This channel is constantly putting a question in the title, then literally never answers that question. They merely briefly mention it, and think that's an actual discussion or analysis...

Zelensky should offer the rare earths to Europe in exchange for security.

Two simple questions:
1. When will EU stop purchasing oil and gas from russia?
2. When are we going to see the hysterics and handwringing about the Minerals deal between Zelenskyy and the UK, signed before Trump’s inauguration?
Asking a friend…

Still waiting for your explanation of the European Plan. More word salad by European leaders. The EU members would have trouble deciding the price of cheese, let alone how to combat Russia

There is no European plan, only vibes. They'll support Ukraine, (but cant fill the gap left by a US exit), They'll send a force to enforce a peace (as long as the US offers a backstop) They say nothing on what kind of deal may come out of it (though seem to be implicitly accepting there will not be a full reclaiming of territory)

3:15 The fact that number 2 even has to be said/written is so insane... You would think that would be common sense...

Germany, France and the UK are a little late to the party, right? Where were they in 2014? Where were they in 2022? Why are they just now formulating a plan in 2025?

What is also interesting is that right before the US/Ukraine meeting, he had a long chat with key Democrats. No doubt they advised him to say what he said on live TV in an effort to pressure Trump. Whether Trump is right or wrong any good diplomat who is heavily reliant on the US for aid should know not to challenge him the way Zelensky did. This could have been a closed door discussion yet Z decided to air out his grievances with the current administration, which led to the predictable results displayed.

Also the mineral deal is not entirely one-sided as it is often displayed. The deal would have lead a significant American civilian presence and financial/strategic interest in what would have been the new DMZ. Top it off with a potential European armed presence. Say what you will about Russia, but they would be far more hesitant to reinvade if there is a heavy American presence at the new border. It was a guarantee without it being explicitly said. Zelensky could have leveraged that in any future conflicts/negotiations. Remember, Trump is not forever, Ukraine could have better leverage in the future whenever he leaves office.

Another thing to consider is this. It was the US under Biden who had to strong arm many EU/NATO countries into better supporting Ukraine. Germany for example sent helmets and tents during the first few months. Ukraine was attempting to sign a deal early but it was Boris Johnson who convinced them to continue fighting. Europe as a whole is not focused enough to meaningfully sway the conflict. It was the West that pushed propaganda that Ukraine was not only winning, but was going to go as far as to retake Crimea which was never realistic. Most generals within NATO know the conflict for what it is truly is, a proxy war to weaken Russia. Ukraine was never meant to win, only bleed Russia.

The only way Ukraine has a chance is with a direct intervention from NATO. Every NATO member has made it clear that is never going to happen. So how long is this conflict going to last. Trump is right in some regards that Ukraine won't have a country left at this rate. Russia is better equipped to weather the blow. Even though I do not like Trump's rhetoric towards Putin, I agree that a peace deal like his is the only viable option. Unless the EU makes a more concrete deal, this is the only way Ukraine can survive in my opinion.

Talking of peace without mentioning what conditions Russia currently finds acceptable is an odd choice.
