Using multi-'omics data to understand multi disease causes (multi-morbidity)

The recent genetics revolution has transformed our understanding of how variation in DNA can influence risk of developing conditions such as cancer and heart disease. Science is on the cusp of a similar revolution enabling comprehensive measurement of other blood-based components (such as proteins, metabolites and lipids) which may be causes and/or indicators of disease risk.
Studies that can combine information on the triad of: i) genetics, ii) other blood-based components and iii) health records have the potential to provide major discoveries, opening opportunities for better disease prevention and management.
This short video (~18 min) introduces the viewer to the differences between health and disease; ‘omics data (proteomics = the study of proteins; lipidomics = the study of lipids; etc); and using data to study multiple disease conditions.
