Comedy Night With Rick Mercer, a televised Canadian comedy event to remember, is composed of 8 unforgettable one-hour specials presented by legendary comedy icon and TV personality, Rick Mercer.

Featuring an impressive lineup of the country’s new and notable comedians, including stand-up performances from Rick Mercer himself, the series will also feature never-before-seen conversations between Mercer and some of today’s most impressive Canadian comedy talent.

Award-winning Canadian political satirist, four-time best-selling author, and legendary Canadian television icon, Rick Mercer, began his career in comedy performing and writing in his hometown St John's, Newfoundland with a series of one-man stage shows. In 1993, his television career took off as one of the creators, performers, and writers on the hit topical weekly show This Hour Has 22 Minutes. His 2001 CBC television special, Talking to Americans is the highest-rated Canadian comedy special ever.

Mercer, who was made an Officer in the Order of Canada in 2015, is the recipient of nearly 30 Gemini Awards and Canadian Screen Awards for his television writing and performance, as well as the prestigious ‘Golden Rose Award’ at the international Rose d’Or Television Festival in Switzerland. He received The John Drainie Award from ACTRA in recognition of his contributions to Canadian broadcasting in 2016, and is the 2019 recipient of the Governor General’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Produced by Just For Laughs and Counterfeit Pictures, the series was executive produced by Bruce Hills of Just For Laughs, Dan Bennett, Shane Corkery and Anton Leo of Counterfeit Pictures, and Rick Mercer. Zoe Rabnett, Blake Gregory, Brent Schiess, Andrea Nevitt and Frédéric Marchand are producers. The series was directed by Shelagh O’Brien.

Watched Rick's new comedy night last Tuesday and each and every comedian was not funny. Seriously Not Funny. These were not comedians. I think Rick needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with a seriously funny act.
