I will say the Carnival my wife and I just bought definitely has a much firmer impact required before it opens than we have ever had on a van.

Try putting you hand in there, and maybe only on the inner half of the opening... One of my kids did unbeknownst to my wife and it wasnt pretty. Although I don't know if it's just simply that any van would crush your hand at that spot. Obviously not something you want to try. But it's sensor system didn't react at all just closed and latched it

what they don't tell u is a common issue they are having hit won't recall... the doors are popping open while driving. if they can't figure out which component is causing it to happen they won't fix it.
