this guy right here...KILLING IT! Big up yourself Stranjah you have got me back into producing (in Ableton!) after 10 years of Reason gathering dust on an old computer. EVERYONE needs to support this guy and show some love, he gives away so many pro level tips for free

I've been dripping to recreate the "Greasy Spoon" break by ... well... Break. It's such a heavy one with a really nice flow

This is for me the only thing I use a ableton for. It works in logic aswell but seems quicker and more on point than logic. Then you can export as midi and make groove in logic which is cool.

Been doing this for a while, although in Cubase.... it can be fun... you can also use live kits like additive drums to recreate the older breaks. I actually prefer to re-create the drums at the original tempo if possible and then pitch up. Also, a tip for sound matching... use Pro-Q (or something similar) to find the key of the hits from their peaking frequencies (use the keyboard key scale feature across the bottom)... also, you can use the EQ match feature although firstly, before this, I would prioritize getting the samples to best match the overall sound you're looking for.

Great video. I love how you explain things. Happy to see you doing better, man. Big up.

Really good video. If i take anything out this as chief importance. Its preserving and observing the mathematically "imperfect" things that give a great drum break its character. That's across all genres. Good work.

Nice. You really should do something on Reason's Dr Rex. It makes working in breaks in Ableton look hard.
