Dwarf trees are quite popular for commercial orchards in addition to being well suited for backyard settings. Trellised cordon systems with extremely tight spacing of as little as two to three feet between trees and eight feet between rows where the entire harvest is within reach without need for ladders or extensive pruning to maintain smaller stature are perfectly suited for smaller scale commercial orchards.

Be sure and share your orchard in videos in the future as the tree's grow.

We’re a little crazy here too! Great info, thanks Luke!

Really useful insights shared on the spacing you are using. I was going to do 20ft spacing between trunks and rows and I'm realising I am losing out more more trees that can be planted by reducing that to 15 or 16ft.

Thanks again from down in South Africa 🌻

Great Job, Content was spot on. Here are two thing I see in the video that I had trouble with. First your fence is not tall enough for them deer. On my farm I have the same thing you have done with the white string and wire. If it not 10 feet tall they clear it with no problem, Just an FYI. Second planting trees in fall and winter yes they are dormat the success rate fall off compared to spring planting. Saying that from experience. Spring time planting is an 85% success rate Meaning you plant 100 trees you lose 10. Winter planting the rate is much more because of winter frost in the ground which will freeze the root and kill the tree, Not a Troll just my experiences on my farm and boy have I learned alot. Love watching your channel, your doing great!!🍒

Thank you! So glad to learn this information.

You are the most affordable place to get seeds. I’m so grateful! I was so excited to get my order in the mail yesterday. Thank you MI Gardener!

All my semi-dwarf grew to 30 feet or better. We prune down to 10-12 feet for fruit harvest. But they were all labelled semi dwarf at nursery. And not just a few. I have over 60 fruit trees

Hi Luke! Loved the video! I have my sights set on an orchard in the future. It’s hard to tell where to start, but what kind of land should I be searching for? Also, what irrigation system do you use?

Just for anyone that might be confused, "Conventional" is usually termed "Standard" in the nursery business, but it still means a "full sized" apple tree.

More dwarfing rootstocks not only reduce the lifespan of the tree, they may also need permanent physical support or the trees can tip over in wind or just start leaning later in life. I grow primarily semidwarf to avoid supporting my trees.

I don't think it was mentioned in the video but how did you orient your rows? Did you run your rows north and south? Maybe it doesn't matter?

Lovely Lauren, my Christmas wish is that you can’t even hear the comments that say you’re anything but you are lovely. You and the feats look and are amazing.

Luke you sound like me. My wife’s always like, “Another tree?!” She thinks I’m insane

Curious as to why you didn't go with the tall spindle type orchard? Congratulations on the new farm! Will you be selling Scion wood in the future?

Is that electric tape across the top of your fence? Are you doing 7 ft fencing to keep deer out?

Get it done Luke! Best time to plant fruit trees is in their dormant stage 10 yrs ago lol. I pray the Lord will forgive me coveting your new farm, orchard and the many things you have planned for the future. Actually I'm very happy for you and if I'm coveting just a little I'm very thankful for what God has blessed me with throughout my 74 yrs, God has been very good to me and Jesus the Christ was the best gift ever given to mankind. Merry Christmas Luke and family and every soul watching this channel.
