Hydro-Gear ZT-3100 oil change. It is recommended to change the oil after the first 75 hours, and then every 400 hours after that. This is a DIY step by step demonstrated on an Ariens Max Zoom 60” deck zero turn, but is a good how to for most Zero Turns and tractors using a Hydro-Gear ZT 3100.

I have the Gravely HD60 same hydro gears, but in this layout they used the top plugs ( not the side plugs like yours ) & it has individual reservoirs for each transmission. To get to that top plug you have to remove each rear wheel. Very easy to do this guys. I kept with all original Hydro gear oil & filter, figured who knows the product the best other then the guys who made it.

Thanks for the video. I just bought a new XT3 with the 3100s and was looking for the purge valve, there is a smaller bolt near top center of the inward face that's similar to yours and that must be it.

There are no HS reservoirs on this unit, but there is an access hole in the top frame where you can see two bolts, one an irregular style which must be a breather I believe and the other a hex bolt in front, presumably for fill. I imagine the procedure must be the same except I will have to use a vacuum pump to slowly fill each tranny. At least it looks serviceable. I got some Amsoil Hydrostatic high-zinc fluid and ordered some of your filters you mentioned for the change. Thanks for the video man.

Good show!

I have a 2015 Ferris IS700Z w/ZT-3200 hydro's. My manual says to use 20W-50 conventional non-synthetic oil. I'd like to use synthetic oil.

Our gears where contaminated with water, we've removed the plastic fluid tank, and the oil filters, is there anyway to get the remaining oil out of the housing?

Hate that you skipped showing how you accessed those hydro fill bolts. Had to take the wheels off mine to get near those.

not all t 3100's have vent plug in same place. wherever you find it, plan on a hard time getting to it. reefill, whether through vent plug or expansion tanks, try to find a way to to use a little pressure to do it. gravity through the expansion tanks will put you to sleep
