Get your RX100 from Amazon today and help support The Digital Digest!

The RX100 has the promise of changing the way we view pocket cameras. Sony's NEX line of cameras revolutionized the performance expectations for a mirror-less interchangeable camera system. The NEX-7 redefined the semi pro space in many ways. Now the RX100 aims to accomplish the same feat for the point and shoot category. Here is an unboxing of a very expensive ($649.99) p&s camera, that many professionals and enthusiasts alike are embracing as a groundbreaking photographic tool that doesn't require breaking out a gear-bag. Enjoy!

Can't wait for a more detailed review! I imagine there's a lot of interest in this camera at the moment.

I'd say that this is not for your average consumer, but rather for the enthusiast at heart. The 20V and 30V are still, in my mind, the ideal route to go for average Joe. This is of course, if money is of no object. Otherwise, one will end up being disappointed that the RX100 doesn't also cook dinner at its price point.

great video - I do have the NEX5n and NEX7 - and you say are absolutely super. I am looking for a smaller camera though as well - for when even the NEX is on the larger side - how is the digital zoom? I have a Nikon P7100 which has the 7.1 or 28-200 zoom which is so great - but it is bulkier and a bit slow - so looking at the RX100 or the Nikon P7700 - but like this size more - but zoom a concern - also do not like idea of camera having to be attached to charger for charge

Mine was made in Japan, The box I got it in was all in Japanese. I heard the Mk 1 was made in Japan but the Mk 2 was made in China.

This is very, very similar to the Canon S95, i wonder how the image quality compares(i know this is better, but it better be substantially better at this price :P)

RX 100 is unfortunately made in China. You hided it when you showed the bottom of the camera. Was it intentionally? It was a big surprise when I got the camera.
