To that I say, everyone knows the Cassowary. And everyone agrees it's one of the most dangerous birds on earth. Well, Cassowaries are herbivores. So just think of Gastornis as a cassowary with the body mass of a horse... 👀

Terror birds and gastornis are honestly just so fun to study because of how intimidating or odd they are :] absolutely brilliant that gastornis has those traits but is so different

The herbivorous Gastornis is cooler than the carnivorous one, honestly. The fact that this specific body plan can work for both carnivourous and herbivorous birds is interesting. This happenef in two unrelated groups, by the way.

Makes sense when other larger "Thunderbirds" like Dromornis and Genyornis are also considered to be herbivores.

At least we still have the big Boi Kelenken on the beef.

And the newly discovered terror bird that is 10% larger than any other found predatory terror bird including Kelenken.
