This is why remco hasnt ridden tour yet. Hes marvelous talent but he switched sports and despite all natural athleticism he doesnt like company he had a lot of crashes, to be expected and not including lombardia, and loves time trial and attacking alone early its same mindset just not starting with full tank. Fabian was a master of it. Fabian also skipped juniors just immense talent he was but grew up on bike and dreamed of tour he was far too big for high mountains but something to be said im sure remco loves cycling but likely cried over world cups and theres something to that passion. I know remco rode even when a footballer but thats not years eating, changing, exchanging nutrition on bike shoulder to shoulder and in relaxed second nature posture that Pog.
I like that Roglic is his idol is because if you only followed sport recently youd think primoz always raced hes been that incredible of a find. He used to just time trial in saddle spinning up mountain as soon as no teammates :) like remco has tendency to do primoz got cagey though hes so complete now so remco has no ceiling. Iwas happy to see him get giro he was clearly strongest 2019 a respect to carapaz. Incredible comeback from aweful crash that vuelta field and even this giro field was not strongest startlist or podium. At start of liege he had as many race days as tadej, obviously not same racing as tadej was raing on every surface against any size rider expending crazy kilojoules, remco was winning slightly more obscure races. When you're world champ and think your #1 you should constantly be racing best contenders to remind them.
Like a Bernard Hinault who I think size and style wise you want a goal both palmares are silly but he likes to ride from front and bully a bit like bernard. I just want to see all these guys in one race :)
