Pain was literally the one villain who changed Naruto's perspective on his whole village, Naruto viewed his village as the one who gets the hate but Pain through his speech taught Naruto that his village isn't the so called "Pure" village that he makes it out to be.

just finished naruto a couple days ago, i wish i never finished it, truly one of the greatest works of art i have ever witnessed. great show, great cast, great music and osts, its just perfect..

As a kid this part struck me so very hard and forced open my eyes about certain facts about reality and humanity that I had ignored. After this scene you can never watch the series the same way again, because you realize this fantastical ninja world operates on the exact same principles as our own. The human condition has not changed and our approach to it as a species has not changed either.
