do students/non-computer scientists tend to "get" the box metaphor? It is what I came to as well coincidentally. I've tried to use the idea of a "magical" box that can get very big like an integer from 0 to I want to use applications like DrawBot(python) and Processing (based on Java) where I start with geometric primitives to show how fast it is to get visual feedback. But I'm trying to think of the best way to transition to why you would need variables.
