The light hook definitely! I bought them and used them with acrylic yarn. They gripped the yarn terribly 😢. The big yarn ball holder looks like the plastic would break if you dropped it on the floor - it would definitely fall off my couch at some stage.

For my balls I use a large Ziploc plastic bag and zip it up almost to the end. Easy to tote around. Plus it keeps the yarn clean. I often crochet outdoors 😊

I tried that squishy thing for my hook. Hard no. It seems like a good idea but it just didn't function as intended. I've never tried one of those yarn separate gadgets. I'm entirely too cheap. I've been using ziplock type bags for years. I find they work well, are easy to store, and very travel friendly 🙂

The Susan Bates hook grips work really well for the value Susan Bates hooks, but not well for other kinds of hooks.

I have the small version of the Big Sully, so it’s basically a hamster ball, but it works perfect for me bc I have a dog that loves to run of with skeins of yarn if they’re left unprotected 😂

Two ziploc bags in a bigger bag. Less bulky and squishable to put away in my work locker for example.

I actually like the Susan Bates handle padding. I didn’t find it uncomfortable at all- mostly because I wasn’t looking for squishy, I just needed a thicker handle to hold so my joints could actually hold it.

Also, there’s two sizes included. Make sure you’re using the right one for your hook.

Try the crochet lite hooks. The hook is solid and do not bend.

If you want to crochet at night, but don't want a light or lamp on, there's this book light called Gritin that you can have standing up somewhere or you can clip it to something...the light brightness and tone are both adjustable, and it's rechargeable (battery lasts a long time on a charge). I highly recommend it, my twin got it for me for Christmas and I've been in love with it since

when I need a bowl to hold yarn in I just crochet one out of scrap..I'll then use my yarn winder and turn my balls into cakes so that they don't roll around..a good use of scrap AND you can have one for each of your colours you are using..

I feel like that these things just are impractical, cuz I never ever seen them in my life and I still am ok crocheting without them 😂

I love the Susan Bates cushions. There are two sizes, but they're made for larger hooks than the one you showed. I use the smaller one with hooks from 4- to 5-mm Susan Bates hooks, and the larger one with 5.5- and 6-mm hooks. Haven't tried them with any other sizes. I love those cushions; they are grippy and have a matte texture; they do not squish (but I don't know why a hook cushion should...) They make my beloved super-smooth vintage Silvalume and Quicksilver S Bates hooks usable again, now that I'm spoiled by other ergonomic hooks. I use a knife hold, and I only use in-line or hybrid hooks (Clover ergonomic and Tulip Etimo), no Boye-shaped or very tapered hooks.

I totally agree ...I felt the same about those three..

I use ziplock bags, from the 2.5 gallon size down to snack size. Projects, yarns, notions can be accommodated. Cheap and very replaceable.

I have learned from personal experience, that having some yarn and glow in the dark crochet hooks in your 72hr kit/emergency kit is awesome to keep you entertained during a power outage or other type of black out.

I just recycle clorox wipes containers. Once they've been washed really well and dried it works great. And you can store your yarn neatly and organized.

I like to make sure when I buy hooks that they are metal with a built in grip and I prefer to buy in store so I can feel the grip to make sure I like it, this way they are sturdy and comfortable, I don’t even really see the point for the light. Ive had way too many plastic hooks or needles break when I’m in the middle of the project, it’s the worst with knitting needles because then you loose your stitches.
