I recently sewed a dress with a tie-front and it also called for facing. After watching this I am certain it would look better with bias finishing or a simple narrow hem because it also bulks and just doesn't sit right. Thank you for this review!!

Cute top! What type of fabric did you use?

Lovely work and great fabric, that print is so pretty. I agree with you about the shoulder facings and cutting the back piece on the fold rather than having 2 pieces. That way you could save a little fabric, which may be the difference between having enough to make your own bias binding or buying some separately. I think you could also get away with a 1 piece front as well, even with the neck opening, what do you think? BTW the top goes well with your trousers too.

Also, just an idea which I'm considering doing myself, how about a post about your homemade wardrobe so far?

She sews!!! LOL! Glad to see a garment review video from you. This top looks so cute on you and yeah, I can see why doing bias binding around the armholes would be better and cutting on the fold. I've done that for one of McCall's patterns, I think a dress pattern, because I didn't understand why it needed to be two pieces.

Bias binding is totally a better finish than facings for arms. I like bias binding inside so it's not visible. I love the design of your top and the fabric.

That's a really cute top! I don't get the fashion fad with the seam in the back. I noticed a few of my daughter's girl styled t-shirts from walmart had the random seam in the back. And yeah, I did a similar style shirt that called for two front pieces and I used a really big floral print so the seam in the front just looked terrible. The next shirt i made for that pattern I just cut on the fold and it turned out fine! Same for the back even though it also called for the back center seam.

I'm wondering if the armhole adjustment is causing the buckling at the bustline, right at the underarms? Wearing a padded halter bra would take care of the problem. The back hangs perfectly. I agree with you that the armhole facing doesn't need interfacing with such a delicate fabric. Overall, you did a great job and the top looks so cute on you.

I like the look of the blouse. But, I am way too busty, DDD for this pattern.
