No egos, No LSS (Lead Singer Syndrome), No problems with DRUGS, WOMEN, RECORD COMPANY POLITICS, or MONEY !!! *The FOUR TOPS* were as LEGENDARY for their FRIENDSHIP, and BROTHERHOOD as for their MUSIC CAREER !!! Over *40 YEARS with ALL of THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS!!!* The ONLY THING that ever BROKE THEM UP.... was DEATH !!!

Catfish was the Tops last hit from their abc dunhill years 1972 - 1976.  Then they dropped off the charts until they rebounded with When she was my girl, about 5 years later and had another nice run of hits in the 80's.

This song reminds of when I was kid and my baby bro said he threw the fish in the 🗑. Those were fun days.

On this day in 1976 {November 6th} the Four Tops performed "Catfish" on the nationally syndicated television program, 'Soul Train'...
At the time "Catfish" was at #80 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, four weeks later it would peak at #71, and the week it did peak at #71 was also it sixth and final week on the Top 100...
It reached #7 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart...
Between 1965 and 1988 the Detroit quartet had forty-eight records on the Hot Black Singles chart, twenty-three made the Top 10 with three* reaching #1, "I Can't Help Myself" for nine weeks in 1965, "Reach Out I'll Be There" for two weeks in 1966, and "When She Was My Girl" for two weeks in 1981...
Sadly, three of the original four have passed away; Levi Stubbs {1936 - 2008}, Renaldo 'Obie' Benson {1936- 2005}, & Lawrence Payton {1938 - 1997}, and Abdul 'Duke' Fakir will celebrate his 85th birthday next month on December 26th, 2020...
R.I.P. to Levi, Obie, Lawrence, and Don Cornelius {1936 - 2012}...
* The Tops just missed having four more #1 records when their "It's The Same Old Song" {1965}, "Standing In The Shadows of Love" {1966}, "Ain't No Woman (Like The One I Got)" {1973}, and "Are You Man Enough" {1973} all peaked at position #2 on the Hot Black Singles chart...
