Try These 3 Things to Make Your WLtoys RC Cars Run BETTER!

The new WLtoys 124016, WLtoys 124017 and Eachine EAT14 all have one problem in common. Cogging. TOday we will look at 3 ways to fix or reduce the amount of cogging you will get.

(Forgot to mention the bullet connectors were different sizes so I did a temporary solder job until the bullet connector set arrives. You don't have to get this set you can just solder or opt for a cheaper option but we needed a new set anyway)

Great cheap options (All UNDER $150)

Ah the joys of taking motors and pinions out of the WLtoys models hey Joe, I personally think they use some sort of super glue in the factory than loctite tbh. Also you must use heat with either a small blow torch or soldering iron to get these screws and pinions off in one piece without stripping them, what i do is once it's very hot, i turn the screw driver clockwise to tighten the screw so it breaks the glue then loosen it, comes off easy and works every time 😎👌

I have the V4 version of the 124017 and it doesn't have this problem. Glad they fixed it.

Enjoyed the video good job, I think everyone is so focused on the motors. I have had incredible luck increasing speed and performance just by swapping over to a quality ESC. I think this applies to all lower end RC Cars. Brushed and Brushless motors alike. I had an ECX 1/16 scale brushed buggy that I swapped out the esc to a quality Quicrun brushed one. The car was a whole new vehicle. Super smooth and gained about 8 miles per hour! same brushed motor. It's called an Electronic SPEED CONTROLER for a reason. It is what talks to the motor and TELLS it how to perform!

Hello there, I had all the same problems, new Dumbo rc receiver, new surpass motor and ESC, new light, new motor mount, broke the motor shaft trying to get the old pinion out, hours and hours of work, but finally no cogging, after weeks of back and forth with banggood, managed to get a partial refund, it only covered the cost of the parts tho . Stupidly fast on 2s, not even tried 3s, with the new motor, the back tyres De glued themselves to on full power, but now, it seems like the car I Thot I paid for, next time think I will buy the LC racing EMT, keep the great content coming cheers

Swapping the included ESC with a HobbyWing ESC fixed the problem for me. Way easier than a motor swap. I was very disappointed after receiving the 124016. After what I spent, I would have gone with an LC Racing car instead.

Same with my 2 wltoys. Motormount screws and the crub screws stripping. Its like welded on there. Ive even broken 2 titanium 1.5 tiips of in the pinion grub screws lol

Thanks so much for including links to the motor and motor mount. Very helpful. It's a shame that the pinion gear on the original motor was so hard to remove.

My 124017 was barely operable out of the box. I replaced the esc with a surpass 60a. Helped a lot for a bit then stopped helping. Who knows.

My 124016 wasn’t as bad but it was still there enough where it wouldn’t start in grass etc. Stuck a 3s. Much better but not great.

The programming card made both of mine worse. Resetting didn’t correct.

I have a motor, gear, and mount en route for both. We’ll see! I should have just bought the brushed ones ha. I love my 14401! Don’t need any more power in it.

Thx for the great content 👊🏼

Guys love the page! Can I ask what pinion gear you used with the updated brushless motor? Stock?

Use a flame to heat the screws up dude! Just 5-10 seconds of heat and they come off like butter! And once you undo the grub screw the pinion will come off easy too because they loctite the pinion on the motor shaft also. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I used heat from the word go and upgraded to a max 10 set up works great not had a problem since that so worth it and the heat is the only way to get the screws out
