Hiking Hardangervidda National Park with kids, Norway

Показать описание
I brought my two kids Levi and Lo, 9 and 7 along with my two brothers Ilias and Josef, 14 and 15, to the Hardangervidda National Park in Norway for a late summer hike in August. We started our hike close to the Rjukan Fjellstue and headed north towards the Helbergshytta. The beautiful Gaustatoppen mountain was constantly showing itself in the distance as we hiked our way into this vast mountain area.
Along the way we tried to leave the marked trail, taking a short cut to the Egg mountain were we planned to camp, but we came out wrong so plans had to change...
In total we covered a distance of 32 km in two days, which worked out fine with the kids even though they had to fight for it a little bit. They carried small back packs with about 2-3 kg each (although my daughter collected stones which eventually doubled her back-pack weight). However the shoe-wear was not appropriate for the kids and if you can you should bring something waterproof for the feet, which we forgot.
This was the first mountain hike for both my kids and brothers, but it will surely not be the last. I was worried that the kids might get bored but there are plenty opportunities to play with the surroundings along the way which gave them energy, as well as taking frequent pauses with something nice to eat or drink.
Hope you enjoy the video and bring yourself and your kids out into the beautiful nature :)
Cheers!
