I love the idea of these blitz decks, which made me buy into the game a few weeks ago. I thought I would show up to one of the games nights in my LGS and give it a shot. The problem is that all three stores in my area place CC exclusively, so I ended up buying a bunch of boosters to get to 60 cards, only to then get crushed by $1000 decks. To make it a true entry-level product, it should at least include a rules reference sheet so that you don't need to rely on people knowing the game to teach you and you can just sit down with your friends and try it out.

Worth noting that Lunging Press was originally printed as a Common in the Katsu CC deck during WTR Alpha days - so it is legal in Commoner

So nice to see the new blitz decks no longer having one of rares. I got into the game with a briar and oldhim blitz deck and as a new player the one-off cards made it very hard to figure out what the deck wanted to do. So props to LSS!

I VERY MUCH believe that these decks are FANTASTIC for new players. They are ALSO great for players looking to try the Commoner and Multiplayer formats!

I'm building Clash decks for each hero and not really buying boxes. As much as I want the Mentors etc, I'll probably be picking them up just to get the base and then grab a few cards here and there from locals. I do think it wouldn't hurt to have a specialization in there to help the decks feel unique to the hero.
I thought the Monarch blitz decks were really nice in that they had a specialization (it was only R, but that doesn't matter.) What is it to them to print one R or M specialization to just give the deck extra pizzaz and it wouldn't help franchised players bc they won't be buying a deck just for one card that they'd grab in a box anyway.

Spot on. My sons and I are newish players. We love picking up these precons to have a precin cube event or to try out heroes we haven't played before we invest fully into that hero.
These decks will also be great for entry into PvE when it comes out.

The shocking thing to me is that some people thought these Blitz precons weren't just an entry product

I always buy the blitz decks and teach new players with them. Just throw a bunch in front of the new player and say 'pick one that looks cool'. Then we play. The aria ones are a bit rough, but overall it works very well. I love the idea of a UPF blitz deck w/ friends day. Im definitely doing this.

100% agree with this whole take. It's part of the reason why the Classic Battles product failed for me (besides the price point). Having unique powerful cards that are 1x of in that product has really sucked (Glistening Steelblade anyone?). I got into the game with Blitz decks during Monarch and I definitely feel like they are a fantastic way to start in the game or try new heroes for a low price point with some good common and rare staples. If there was any change to make? It would be to add more Sink Below/Fate Foreseen as these are staple defense reactions that would be helpful to have more copies of for new players.

I gave away ~100 of these types of decks back when FAB first came to Europe. It got so many people into the game. I think it's a great product to get new players involved. I could see sealed events with these decks being a thing.

My only complaint with blitz decks has always been no rule book. I love the price point, i love how simple they are and they are great for new players and demo games. Please just put a qr code or rule book in them..
They have never been about value. Back in WTR and ARC alpha days, we made starter decks with commons and rares and sold them for $10-15 or gave them away CONSTANTLY. People just want entry level decks to show others the game!

Yeah idk what it is with the FAB community harping on these. They are perfect and the HP1 Blitz decks already play so well. These aren't for Blitz Armories where people are already tryharding ot course. These are for as many games as you'd like against each other and against decks you build from buying the first box of a set you've missed before. I don't need them but I purchased one to play with people I teached the game and why wouldn't I.

Nobody has to argue which cards fit in, nobody has to sift through bulk to hand to a new player, they can just take the initiative and play great games of FAB with this. There's no need for people to chase these for RF heroes or Mentors that people complained on at the time. This doesn't make them a bad product, no it makes them a great one.

It may hurt LSS a little but I think the big thing is they are trying different things out occasionally to see what works and what doesn’t to make the game healthy for both the market, new players, old players, collectors, etc. I give LSS that credit they are trying to find a balance that works for them and the players instead of trying to bleed people and players dry like MTG.

Hate that they removed the RF young hero. That was the only reason I bought the blitz decks. Many LGS are going to be stuck with these.

I understand your points, but there's no reason why any new player at my locals should pay 12-15 bucks for a precon, when local players have built decks out of chaff to give out for free.

Was so stoked to be able to build every Heavy Hitters PreCon from a few HH boxes. Loved this idea so much I bought an Outsiders box hoping to do the same - only to realize they'd used cards from previous sets!!! Hope sets /precons are more like HH moving forward...

Hmm I agree with you when it comes to mechanically unique cards (aka. Glistening Steelblade) however in my opinion the lack of rainbow heroes is mostly definitely an overall net negative for these products. Even the lack of a full art hero card just seems incredibly puzzling that I have to believe it was an oversight

You make a good point.
It would be nice, however, if LSS were a bit more up front about what the intent for products like these actually were, so we knew what to expect before the decks were up for pre-order at our LGSs…

Good to know I can skip these, was gonna buy one of each but I can just build them instead.

Honestly I really like how these decks are - they're relatively cheap, but very effective at showing you what the hero wants to do. A nice way of testing the hero, but without being obscenely strong. The one thing I do miss, compared to some previous blitz decks, is the specialisations? It helped make the decks feel even more special, and even if the specialisation wasn't good (such as the one in the Levia precon), it felt SO good to be able to play it and just be like "Haha, this is my ultimate move!"

Outside of this, just something like rainbow foil heroes would be so nice. New players like shiny cards!! Even better if those shiny cards are cheap so they don't get scalped, but making it the hero (and maybe also the weapon) just makes people so much more excited to have them. The decks don't have to be perfect, they don't even necessarily have to be powerful. What is most important is that they FEEL good for new players.

That is what got me into flesh and blood with Ira, that's what got me to stick with it with decks like Prism and Levia. The cards just felt so awesome to play - and specialisations, like whirling mist blossom, are a huge part of why. They don't have to be good. They just have to be fun.
