AIPER Surfer S1 Solar Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer

The Aiper Surfer S1 Solar Powered Surface Cleaner is a solid entry into this cleaner category. Made out of durable plastic and featuring robust parts, it works very well at what it is designed for -cleaning the leaves and acceptable debris off the pool surface.

I like the gigantic debris tray, which has a very fine mesh, so this is great for excellent particle surface debris as well as large leaf debris. I don't like the slide-back top for accessing the debris canister. It works fine, but you need more real estate to open it, and there is nothing wrong with a flip-open top found on another solar-surface cleaner. That is just a knock on the style; as far as function, this works perfectly fine. It maneuvers around the entire pool and has no problem cleaning the surface.

Like all solar surface cleaners, the #1 problem is the cleaner getting pulled into the skimmer when running. Cutting a pool noodle and sticking one or two pieces in the skimmer is a viable solution – creating a drain grate-like effect in front of the skimmer.

I like the fact that you can plug the cleaner in and it can also charge the 12-hour battery from the solar panels on top.

From the Manufacture:
Efficient Cleaning: The brushless motor propels the paddle-wheel-styled Surfer S1 on its hunt to clean your pool surface, while the ultrasonic sensors ensure maximum cleaning coverage and debris collection, including leaves, flowers, animal hair, and more.

App Support: Monitor real-time water temperatures, battery status, and more with the Aiper
App. Take charge of your pool's cleanliness using Manual Mode, which gives users direct control of the Aiper Surfer S1, allowing you to target and eliminate elusive debris.
2 Charging Modes: Go green and never worry about charging, as the solar panel-powered Aiper Surfer S1 keeps your pool clean and lets nature do its job. An included DC adapter ensures you're always with your Surfer S1, even on cloudy days.

Easy to Clean: The top slide design makes it easy to open and easy to access as the filter basket springs up to easily handle, giving you a seamless cleaning and maintenance experience.
Four retractable support beams keep the device from climbing and getting stuck on steps while cleaning your pool. The Aiper Surfer S1 comes with 18 months protection. It has excellent weather and erosion resistance with UV-resistant materials. It's a durable, reliable, long-lasting cleaning partner.

I really liked all your videos that you made. That’s how I started my YouTube channel from you all the things about swimming pools. I really didn’t knew thank you so much for this.

Thanks for the recommendation! I watched your review of the AIPER Surfer S1, and I’m definitely adding it to my shopping list. I love that it’s solar-powered and autonomous—exactly what I need to keep my pool clean without much hassle. Keep up the great content!

You should do an episode talking about which one of these solar skimmers is the best.

Looks like you Scuba S1 Pro is having the same issues as mine. Watching the sped up footage, it’s clear that it has terrible coverage of the pool. It was moving across the same areas continuously. Mine also suffers from the dreaded bunny hop ….front end lifting and hence not collecting floor debris.
It may be the 180 micron filter is not ideal for the device and firmware also needs improvement on coverage. Would be interesting to get your feedback and thoughts.
The Surfer looks like it’s a good device though!

I bought it last year, but sucking is not enough after one year, maybe they should improve layer quality

I have concerns about the longevity of the sliding solar panel method to access the filter container. I would prefer a lifting top like they have on the Scuba Pro cleaner.

These Solar skimmers all seem to work without any suction or pressure cleaner hoses in the pool to get hung up on. When they can solve that problem, I’ll look at replacing the one in our pool.

David, do you know if a 3" tab can be placed in the debris basket like in the Betta to help with sanitizing the water? Also, the description to the video says 18 month protection from the manufacturer but the video also showed one year. Do you know which it is?

I have this unit and like it however with your pool on it does tend to get stuck in the skimmer pull quite a bit. Pool noodles in there can help.

I also have their robotic cleaner.

Do you think both are sufficient for cleaning or do you think I should still use my Polaris suction cleaner daily? Have to remove that to use the robotic cleaner and skimmer.

Does this get finer sediment from the surface of the water?

Hi David, between this and the Betta SE Plus, which one would you recommend? The most common complaint against the Betta is debris flowing out of the basket when it’s reversing. The only complaint I’ve found of the Aiper is short run time compared to the Betta model.

When you pull it out of the pool, does it need to be shut down or does it auto shut off? I'm worried about guests pulling it out, etc.

Hello! I have a shallow step and a cabo landing, with and without the little legs it gets stuck there. Worse than stuck, because it's running and not moving, it just starts pushing the bugs back out. Anybody have tips?

Whats the point of charging it? Shouldn’t it rub continuously every day if it has a solar panel?

Thanks for the video! That pool bottom vacuum doesn’t seem to be doing well in your sped up video.
