so if you extend this principle, can you use it for straight line graphs as well? In the sense that y=mx+c is y=m(x^1)+c and to get dy/dx you put 1 in front of x and 1-1 in the power i.e. m.1(x^0). This means that the x always becomes 1 and so you end up with m. Is this reasoning correct please?
