I still don’t understand why people feel this need for more “representation.” Like, do they think some video game made by a company that really only cares about making money is gonna fix their social problems? When did people become so shallow that they can’t relate to characters just cause they aren’t the same sexual orientation/gender/race? And I grew up as a Chinese-American with Asperger’s, my favorite heroes and characters were never Chinese or autistic. I don’t need any of my favorites to be Chinese or autistic for me to like them or look up to them. I was comfortable with this back in 2012 before Genshin became popular, I stand by that now that Genshin is mainstream (cause some fucks would prolly argue “you’re represented now cause Genshin is made by Chinese people” or some shit)

I have a friend who looks like the most white of white boys you could ever imagine. Man's father is a full-blooded Mexican, making him Hispanic. It's hilarious seeing people tell him to shut up for being white, until they find out he's mixed race and they try to walk it back like they weren't just overtly racist. Like, no. Saying "well I didn't know you're hispanic because you're so pale, if I knew I wouldn't have said that." doesn't make it better. It makes it infinitely worse.

I have a friend, he is from Mexico... I am white... He is more pale than I am! His brother, with the same parents, is darker than me... Skin color is affected by a lot of things and thinking everyone in a single race or group is the exact same down to the skin color is the text book example of racisim. Genshin twitter needs to log off, walk outside, and touch some grass...

This happened to me before! That part of the community is so unpleasant to deal with. It's filled with nothing but people who straight-up lie putting words in your mouth you never said & then continue trying to spread that lie about you with one twisted retweet on top of another until what you really said gets buried & only their lie stands. Last time I check a company has the right to design its own characters how they want, even if it's based from something real. Even if they did actually choose to design characters with the correct correlating skin, they'd probably still be bashed for it.

I am a light skinned arab, and the majority of people who live here are all light skinned, we are brown at best some darker than the other but the truth is majority of us are light skinned even if we live in the more sunny and "desert" part of the country. Me and my friends who play genshin are very upset about how this community is bashing charecters who represent us and making them black. Its like they never even seen what the population looks like and I am very sick of it, should we also paint our skin darker to be deemed acceptable ??

i got told to kms by one of these “genshin fans” when i called out the racism and double standard in an edit where someone “fixed” colleis skin to be darker. i didn’t lash out at them again, i calmly tried to reason with them and explain the prejudice as clearly as i could manage. they proceeded to call me a racist AND THEN make fun of a middle easterner who agreed with me because the middle easterner couldn’t type in english very well. i deleted twitter after that one. the ignorance that radiates off these virtue-signalers is just as inflated as their egos.

I'd love a way more skin color variety just as I'd love more body shapes in the game, but not for the whole representation bs only America cares about, but because it would be nice to see how pretty a character with darker skin would look like since we already have dark npcs and the skintone genshin gives them is so pretty.
