Yet Cody is still a positive guy even though he spent time in prison. So we can all learn a moral from this.

In Street Fighter Alpha 3, Joe from SFI was originally planned to be playable with this backstory, but got scrapped and replaced by Cody Travers due to his popularity with Capcom fans including the late Robin Williams who named his own son after Cody.

During his SF debut in Alpha 3, Cody has Joe's spinning back-kick and speaks with a country-boy accent instead of the city-boy accent he later spoke with in both SFIV & SFV.

Wait, wasn’t it revealed in Poison‘s ending in Final Fight Revenge that it was actually Poison and her gang that sent Cody in Jail via tricking the Police into believing that Cody was the cause for some criminal activity?

not quite right. He was set up, He knew it, so he spent his time finding out who (Poison's gang) and then busted out. Eventually his name is cleared, and he even takes over as Mayor after Mike Haggar in SF5

What I like about jail Cody is when he got bored fighting in prison, he breakout of prison and fight someone else then comeback when he is satisfied

I always thought he went to prison for punching the final boss out the window and killing him in final fight

I thought it was Cody taking the fall for Guy accidentally killing a man. In his SFIV ending, Guy then tried to bust Cody out of jail, only for the convict to refuse the offer and return to his cell.

But in the end, Cody got his freedom and became the new mayor of the city after Haggar stepped down.
