To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Nike, Sotheby’s presents fifty – a curated streetwear auction comprising more than 100 examples of some of the iconic brand’s most sought-after collaborations, unreleased and rare samples, prototypes, and limited-edition accessories. The retrospective pays tribute to the legacy and evolution of the brand, from its inception as a running company to its expansion as a multi-sport collective that has transcended into a consumer culture of its own identity.

Former NFL Super Bowl Champion and Guest Curator for the fifty sale ,Victor Cruz, personally handpicks his four favorite pairs of some of Nike’s finest shoes designed by Virgil Abloh, Doernbecher, and Nipsy Hustle.

Sotheby’s fifty auction will take place on 13 December in New York.

The worse part about sneaker shoe collecting is that these companies keep unreleased stock. They sometimes re-release the stock or give out as a promotional item to vendors and employees. Of course sometimes sold out the back door.

Can someone take a step back and realize we're talking about gym shoes here?

I’ve worked with Victor before. He’s a super cool guy. But for the life of me, I do not understand the appeal of shoes or the idea of collecting them.
